The National Technical Museum opened the Plasy Centre for Architectural Heritage in the newly renovated historically valuable space of the economic background of the monastery in Plasy. It is a unique centre of documentation, presentation and lifelong education.
“The opening of the Plasy Centre for Architectural Heritage is an important milestone in the history of the National Technical Museum,” says the CEO of the NTM, Karel Ksandr.
The permanent exhibition attractively and clearly presents the problems of the historical development of building elements, materials and structures. Visitors thus have the opportunity to become familiar with various building materials (wood, stone, clay) and on each floor of the brewery they can view various kinds of structures, from foundations and rough construction, through surface treatment, types of fillings and relevant technical equipment of buildings, to the rafters and roofing.
The NTM is opening the Plasy Centre for Architectural Heritage with the aim to promote respect for the building heritage, convey a deeper understanding of the building history, pass the traditional skills and bring inspiration and delight.
“The Slavkov Castle – Austerlitz as a national historic landmark and a top tourist destination in southern Moravia acquires through this unique exhibition an addition and a significantly extended offer to learn about the historical epoch that is inherently connected to it. I am convinced that the exhibition will provide visitors with extraordinary experiences. Already the first days after the opening of the exhibition it was visited by hundreds of visitors, of which nearly a third were foreign. Their comments are often full of superlatives. Full of impressions they value the exhibition as great and commend also its authors and implementers. Valuable exhibits, successful replicas, modern audiovisual elements and particularly impressive diorama leave the visitors with many impressions, “Ing. Ales Šilhánek, Director of the castle added.
The underground exhibition of the Anselm mine underwent a unique transformation. “The result is an almost perfect illusion that the visitor of the Landek Park Natural and Mining Museum in Ostrava became a miner. It is enhanced by the authentic atmosphere of going down the pit of an active mine, “the spokesman explained.
“After the impactor beep the lights in the cage dim and the Anselm mine delves into darkness. However, at that moment the glass floor beneath the feet of visitors lights up. Here they will see a filmed ride into the depth of a real mining pit, and will thus automatically get the feeling that they are going deep down the mining pit, ” Lumír Plac, Director of the Landek Park outlined.
